Welcoming the Former Burgers Artisan Bakery Building to the Sorbon Estates Portfolio

After 83 years of dedicated service to the Marlow community, the Burger family has entrusted us with the future of their much-loved High Street property – the former home of Burgers Artisan Bakery.

First opened in 1942 by Eric and Marie Burger, ‘Continental Confectioners’ quickly became a cherished part of Marlow life. Known for their exceptional breads, pastries, and hand-crafted chocolates, the Burgers built a loyal following over the decades. Their sons, Philippe and Bernard, carried on the family tradition with pride and care, maintaining the warmth and quality the bakery was known for.

As the Burger family steps away from the business, we are honoured to have been chosen as the next custodian of this landmark building. We fully recognise the emotional significance this property holds for the family and the community, and we are committed to respecting its legacy.

We plan to carry out a sensitive refurbishment of the building and carefully select a new occupier who will add to the vibrancy of Marlow’s High Street. Our goal is to ensure the site remains an active and meaningful part of the town for years to come.

As Bernard Burger shared with us:
“It has been an honour for our family to serve the Marlow community for over eight decades and we are incredibly grateful to the loyalty shown to us. By selling the property to Sorbon Estates, we are confident that it will continue to be a valued part of the town. Our hope is that the future tenants will feel the same sense of pride and connection to the town that we have.”

At Sorbon Estates, we take great pride in supporting and investing in towns like Marlow. This latest acquisition reflects our ongoing commitment to revitalising high street properties across the Thames Valley and Buckinghamshire, and we’re excited to play a role in the next chapter of this iconic address.
