Maintenance Operative - Grounds and Soft Services


Sorbon Estates - a highly successful commercial property investor - are looking for a hard-working experienced Maintenance Operative with a background in grounds and soft services.


About the role

As Maintenance Operative, you will:

  • Maintain internal and external communal areas on various properties across the portfolio (both residential and commercial)
  • Maintain car parks across the portfolio, by keeping on top of weeding, litter picking and cutting back hedges all year round where necessary. As well as ensuring bin store areas are clean and bins are emptied regularly
  • Carry out window cleaning, internal and external
  • Arrange land clearances, landscaping, fencing, jet washing, site material and waste clearance, and cleaning work on refurbishment projects
  • Carry out external ground and maintenance works including excavation, ground maintenance, slabbing, minor concrete work and bricklaying
  • Assist maintenance operatives to carry out repairs and general maintenance or removal when required on larger jobs
  • Use email and facilities management programmes to log hours, receive jobs and book in work
  • Keeping the company vehicle, tools, PPE clean, tidy, maintained and fit for purpose
  • Have awareness of Risk Assessing your work and reporting hazards whilst at work - training will be provided
  • Be efficient in planning your time and organising your paperwork job sheets, purchase orders and receipts


About you

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has the ability to work independently using own initiative, and within a team
  • Has proven 'on the tools' experience
  • Is smart and presentable with a high level of attention to detail
  • Has a full, clean driving licence
  • Has a pro-active "can do" approach with a positive and helpful attitude
  • Has good problem solving, communication and organisation skills
  • Is practical, proactive and solution driven
  • Is customer focused with excellent timekeeping
  • Has IT skills for updating records on a mobile phone or tablet
