Brookes Clothing marks the opening of their store on Marlow High Street

We're delighted to welcome stylish new retailer Brookes Clothing to Marlow High Street last weekend. Owned and run by Melanie Duddy, Brookes Clothing arrived with a flourish as an impressive floral installation, complete with an abundance of pinks, peonies and hydrangeas, was put in place to welcome the store's first visitors.

Melanie said, "We have been so excited to open our beautiful new store on Marlow High Street and enjoyed welcoming our first customers through the door. Our store in Wendover is known as a destination for elegant clothing and we have many loyal customers who rely on Brookes to build a current, stylish wardrobe.  It is our aim that in creating our beautiful new store in the vibrant town of Marlow, that we can introduce a new audience to Brookes' relaxed and friendly approach to styling."

Brookes Clothing also joins other Marlow independent retailers, including Shoe Emporium, Rosie Cheeks and Really Wild Clothing, who have joined our one year's free annual bira membership offer which is open to their portfolio of independent retail tenants. The membership provides a wealth of business benefits including free legal advice, business banking, specialist insurance, access to tax accountants and more.

Melanie said, "Retailers have to be more aware, in these challenging times, of creating an experience for their customers to sustain their relevance on the high street. At Brookes we offer a service in providing styling and fit advice using our carefully selected, unique brands. Although we have nine years of experience and successful trading behind us, we know how important it is to have support as an independent retailer and we're delighted to be part of the bira partnership."

Julie Holden from bira explained more about their 'Independent Together' approach: "One of the key challenges for indie retailers is feeling alone. By joining bira, our members can tap into the strength of our wider membership base and connect with other independents, often within the same locations.

"The support provided by Sorbon Estates through this unique partnership is an amazing opportunity and we are delighted to be working together to deliver tangible business benefits and access to valuable retail insights. Local shoppers can also show their support, by looking out for 'Independent Together' window stickers and spending money with independent businesses."

Tamra Booth, managing director at Sorbon Estates, says: "Over 70% of tenants within our property investment portfolio are independent businesses which we believe add real diversity and vibrancy to our high streets. Coming from humble beginnings ourselves almost 50 years ago, we understand the challenges small businesses can face and so wanted to offer the support of a wider network to help our independent retail tenants thrive.

"As a commercial developer and investor, we invest in property improvements and work with tenants to support them wherever possible. Through the bira membership, we have established a commitment to independent retailers meaning our tenants can have access to a suite of services bringing them even closer to achieving their business goals."
